The Last Supplement You'll Ever Need to Take for Stress

In All Health Watch, Featured Article, General Health

Of all the supplements out there…experts say there’s only one you need to fight stress. It’s a vital nutrient…yet you’ve probably never heard of it.

It’s important to your brain and body. It helps fight physical and mental stress…while also supporting your immune system.

But the problem is…your body doesn’t produce it while under stress.

Professor David Benton, Ph.D. decided to put this nutrient to the test. He leads research at Swansea University in Wales…and specializes in dietary recommendations for cognitive functioning.

“The study for the first time reports an improvement in mood following supplementation,” says Dr. Benton.

Other experts are catching on…and taking a look at the nutrient. Michael A. Starks is a professor at the University of Memphis. He’s a health expert…and a certified strength specialist.

Dr. Starks heard that the nutrient was good for mental stress. So he put it through a physical stress test.

“Supplementation promotes a desired hormonal status by blunting increases in (stress hormone) levels,” he says.

So how does it work? And why is it the last supplement you’ll ever need to take for stress? Keep reading and we’ll show you…

Study Says Stressful Days Are Over

Dr. Benton took a group of healthy adults who were considered to be neurotic. That means they had a tendency to experience negative emotions. He gave them 300 mg of the nutrient each day…for 30 days.

At the end of the study…they took a stressful arithmetic test. It was a frustrating task…but they felt less stressed and even had a better mood than before.

Dr. Benton’s study shows the nutrient can reduce mental stress. But another study says it can cut physical stress…and it gives more insight into how it actually works.

Dr. Starks split 10 healthy males into two groups. They either took 600 mg of the nutrient or a placebo once a day…for 10 days. Then he put them through exercise tests.

He found that their levels of cortisol dropped after taking the nutrient. Cortisol is a hormone produced in response to stress. Excessive cortisol damages your body in many ways. It can cause testosterone levels to drop…and it can breakdown bone and muscle.

“(The nutrient) has been demonstrated to speed up recovery, prevent muscle soreness, (and) improve well-being,” says Dr. Starks.

Fighting All Stresses

So the nutrient combats physical stress by keeping cortisol low. But it doesn’t mess with low cortisol levels…just unhealthy high levels that come from stress. Studies also show why the nutrient has an effect on the brain.

One study was done on older women with depression. After taking the nutrient for 30 days…their anxiousness dropped. They became more social…and their memory and learning improved.

Experts say it fuels the brain to produce dopamine…which activates the pleasure centers of the brain. Not only that…it’s present in every nerve cell in your body.

To recap…it helps your bones, muscles, nerves, hormones, mood…and your concentration. There are no known side effects.

But there is a problem with this nutrient…

Your body doesn’t generate much of it on its own. And as you get older…you produce even less of it. The nutrient is also not available in many food sources. So you can see that taking it as a supplement is essential to your health.

You can get it online…or at a health food store. Most experts say between 100 – 150 mg per day is necessary.
