5 Proven Home Remedies for Arthritis Pain

In All Health Watch, Anti-Aging, Featured Article, Pain Relief

The 50 million Americans with arthritis pay a high price for their pain. They spend more than $100 billion a year on treatments.1

Sufferers often take daily doses of over-the-counter analgesics such as acetaminophen and ibuprofen. Or they may turn to prescription NSAIDs or opioid painkillers. Some patients add sleep medications and antidepressants to overcome the insomnia and stress of dealing with constant pain.

All these drugs come with serious side effects. They include liver damage, stomach bleeding, atrial defibrillation, heart attack, and stroke. Opioids are addictive and cause about 20,000 deaths per year. They can even kill you in your sleep.

There are better solutions. Several natural home remedies have been proven to relieve arthritis pain. They have no adverse side effects and are much less expensive than drugs.

Try them for your arthritis pain. You have nothing to lose, and everything to gain…including your good health.

Nobody else is reporting this. It’s not on the news. The American Heart Association won’t tell you. Not even your doctor is up-to-date on it. The mainstream’s advice is even part of the problem. Go HERE to discover the 5 true heart attack triggers. Prepare to be shocked.

5 Natural Arthritis Pain Beaters

Turmeric: This spice contains curcumin. It’s a natural substance with potent anti-inflammatory and anti-arthritic properties.

A 2012 study compared curcumin’s effectiveness to NSAIDs such as ibuprofen and naproxen. Curcumin was found to be better at alleviating rheumatoid arthritis symptoms. No adverse side effects were reported. Take a 400-600 mg supplement once a day.2

Epsom salt: It is magnesium sulfate, which has been proven to relieve stiffness and pain in arthritis sufferers. Simply add a half cup of Epsom salt to a bowl of warm water and soak your sore joint.

If you have pain in an inconvenient place to soak, such as your knees, run a tub full of warm water and add 2 cups of Epsom salt. Soak for at least 15 minutes.3

Olive oil: Extra virgin olive oil (EVOO) contains large amounts of the natural compound oleocanthal. It obstructs the inflammatory enzymes COX-1 and COX-2, just like ibuprofen… Except olive oil doesn’t have the potential for nasty side effects.4

A 2015 study published in the Journal of Nutritional Biochemistry looked specifically at the benefits of oleocanthal for rheumatoid arthritis patients. Researchers found it significantly reduced inflammation.5

The scientists noted that 3 ½ tablespoons of EVOO is equal to a 200-mg tablet of ibuprofen for reducing inflammation. Simply drink it straight or add EVOO to foods. But don’t heat it above 410 degrees. This will destroy some of the oleocanthal.6

White willow bark: It’s the original aspirin. Way back in 400 BC, the Greek physician Hippocrates wrote about the pain-relieving powers of white willow bark. It contains salicin. This is a chemical similar to aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid).

Like aspirin, white will bark relieves pain and inflammation from osteoarthritis. It also treats headache, lower back pain, menstrual cramps, tendonitis, and bursitis. And unlike aspirin, it rarely causes stomach upset or bleeding. White willow bark is widely available at health food stories and online.

One precaution: Like aspirin, it is a blood thinner. If you take blood-thinning drugs, white willow bark may strengthen the effect.7

Juniper berry tea: Research published in the Journal of Ethnopharmacology found that juniper berries ease arthritis pain. They contain a compound called terpinen-4-ol. It suppresses inflammation caused by overactive white blood cells.8

Two cups of juniper tea a day are effective against arthritis pain. Boil one teaspoon of dried juniper berries in one cup of water and add raw honey to taste.

Women who are pregnant or trying to get pregnant should not drink this tea. It may interfere with uterine interaction with the fetus or fertilized egg.9

Before trying any of these natural remedies check with your doctor.
