Predict a HEART ATTACK… With Your Phone? (Wow!)

In All Health Watch, General Health

When it comes to maintaining optimal heart health, it seems like mainstream medicine is quick to point out plenty of ‘problems’ – but very few SOLUTIONS.

In fact, ask most doctors and they’ll probably tell you outside of taking prescription drugs, the only ‘natural’ ways to prevent a heart attack are to:

  1. exercise for HOURS…
  2. or, consistently eat boring, bland foods.

Of course, staying active and eating right are two of your best bets for a healthy heart – and an ironclad plan to proactively prevent heart attacks.

But when it comes to heart attacks, the risk of having one can linger for years, and they can strike out of nowhere… even if you’re healthy!

Now, thanks to groundbreaking new technology, you may be able to monitor your risk level of having a heart attack… and use that information to take proactive steps to prevent it from happening.

And best of all, all you need is your smartphone!

New Smartphone App Calculates Risk of Heart Attack

A team with Scripps Research – a California-based, nonprofit medical research facility that focuses on research and education in the biomedical sciences – has developed an app called MyGeneRank that can calculate your genetic risk for heart attack.

Here’s how this unique app works:

MyGeneRank inputs your genetic information and profile from the popular 23andMe genetic testing company. From there it outputs a coronary artery disease (CAD) “risk score” based on the DNA data.

During initial testing of the app, the company found that those with high-risk scores were much more likely to start cholesterol-lowering therapies (both natural and mainstream), compared to those with low-risk scores.

In other words, the app can provide valuable information based on your genetics that can be used to become heart healthy…

And let’s face it, it’s NEVER too late for that!

It should be noted that I have no affiliation with MyGeneRank or it’s developers. I simply thought this was a cool, science-based (and drug-free) tool that could help you maintain proper heart health.

If you have a history of heart attacks in your family, be sure to discuss MyGeneRank with your doctor first before using it.

MyGeneRank is available on both the Apple App Store, and Google Play.
