There’s some exciting news for people with arthritis. One all-natural plant extract can ease pain as effectively as any pain killer. But without any of the risky side effects.
It comes from Dr. Tieraona Low Dog, who has served on the White House Commission of Complementary and Alternative Medicine. She’s also chaired the United States Pharmacopeia Dietary Supplements and Botanicals Expert Committee. Currently, she’s a Director at the Center for Integrative Medicine at the University of Arizona.
And she’s made it her mission for the last decade to study the pain-reliving effects of this plant.
She’s conducted her own study on the use of this plant extract in combating pain. Championed several other studies which prove how effective this herb really is. And is now using it with great success on her own patients.
“There have been three randomized controlled trials for acute back pain,” she says. “And eight trials for arthritis. Those studies found [this natural extract] was equal to NSAIDs and COX-2 inhibitors for pain relief.”
She says it’s widely prescribed in Germany to treat arthritis with great success. But it’s barely known here in the U.S.
But all that is changing. The University of Maryland Medical Center just conducted a four?month study on the effects of this all-natural pain reliever. Researchers had 122 osteoarthritis patients – all suffering from knee and hip problems – take a supplement of an extract of this herb. And they found all patients enjoyed a statistically significant decrease in pain and substantial improvement in movement. The effects were so dramatic that most patients chose to give up their medication following the study.
Former Harvard faculty professor Andrew Weil has been following Dr. Low Dog’s research. He says that there’s “significant” proof that this natural herb can reduce pain and stiffness. Especially in hip and knee arthritis. And it’s not just Dr. Low Dog’s research that’s so compelling. Plenty of other studies and research support its benefits.
So just what is this natural herb that works as well as a pain killer… without any of the risks? It’s called Devil’s Claw. It’s an endangered plant that’s found in the South African desert.
And for thousands of years, natives of the Kalahari Desert have used the dried roots to treat pain. But how does it work?
We’ll tell you on Friday. And share with you further research supporting this all-natural wonder.
